What needs your consent
Google Analytics, a third-party service, measures how many visits the site gets, where they come from and which pages they reach. It loads only if you click “Accept”. Google Ireland Limited processes the data and can transfer it to the United States. It sets these cookies:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
_ga |
Distinguishes visitors | 2 years |
_ga_<ID> |
Keeps session state | 2 years |
See the Google privacy policy.
If you reject the cookies or ignore the banner, Google Analytics does not load. If you withdraw your consent later, the site deletes these cookies from your browser.
Disqus, a third-party service, provides the comments on posts. It loads only if you click “Load comments”, and only for that page. Your IP address then goes to Disqus and to Google Fonts, and Disqus can show an ad above the comments. For its cookies and tracking, see the Disqus privacy policy.
What does not need your consent
The site stores your choice in your browser’s local storage, under the key cookie-consent. It is not sent anywhere. The site asks again after 12 months.
Other services that receive your IP address
Browsers request some files from other servers. These requests do not depend on your choice:
- GitHub Pages hosts the site and serves emoji images.
- jsDelivr serves the icon font.
- Mailchimp and its owner Intuit serve files on the subscribe page. Mailchimp handles your email address if you subscribe.
- Britannica serves the image on the error page.
Your rights
The legal basis for Google Analytics and Disqus is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time with the link at the top of this page or in the site footer. You can also ask me for access to, correction of or deletion of your data, and you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency.
